In March, Alonzo underwent surgery to remove his prostate following the diagnosis, and he now proudly announces that he is cancer-free.

He took to internet prior this week and shared a post-surgery picture of himself and his doctor with the caption:

My health has always been paramount. Prioritizing my well-being is crucial in my life, and it should be prioritized in everyone’s life, especially for men.

Ensuring that I eat right, stay active, and most importantly, have regular checkups is critical to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Nearly, I was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer, and I am extremely grateful to say that I am now cancer free.

My journey to recovery has been tough, but I am grateful for the support of my loved ones and the amazing medical team that helped me via it all.

Men, we have to remember that early detection is key, so make sure to prioritize your health and get regular checkups.

Alonzo Mourning is channeling his experience into advocacy, urging men to prioritize their health and undergo regular prostate cancer screenings.

In an interview with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Alonzo shared the gravity of the disease and the silent threat it poses.

“What scares me about this disease is that there are so numerous men walking around feeling great and have that cancer in them and they don’t know it,” he stated. “The only way to discover out is to get their blood tested and get their PSA checked. There are 3.3 million men living in the U.S. with prostate cancer, and numerous don’t even know it. I was one of those guys.”
