Bun B became emotional as he testified at the sentencing hearing for the man who invaded his house in April 2019.
ABC13 reports the rapper was tearful as he described that he and his wife continue to deal with the aftermath of the terrifying incident.
Demonte Jackson was being sentenced for invading the couple’s house. He plead guilty to aggravated robbery. It took a far 5 years for the court proceedings to reach the point of sentencing. Bun B — born Bernard Freeman — took the witness stand on June 5 for twenty minutes. He stated how the trauma of that day “still affects [their] lives.”
He explained what happened when Jackson forced his way into their residence. The Houston native said his wife, Queenie, opened the door for the perpetrator, believing he was an Amazon delivery man. After Bun’s wife replied the door, Jackson put a gun to her head and strong armed his way into the house.
The philanthropist recalled hearing his wife say, “Just take the car! Just take the car!” He said that he had never heard fear emanating from Queenie’s voice the way he did that day. The couple have been married for over 20 years.
Jackson tried to flee in Queenie’s car, but Bun entered the garage and fired shots at the car, wounding him. The perp fired shots back before exiting the vehicle. The men then started to tussle on the ground.
Demonte managed to break free, but Bun caught up with him and forced the thief to remove his mask and reveal his tattoos. The ‘Take It Off’ rapper said that he wanted to see if he knew the convict or if he was associated with someone he knew. Bun B finally let him go, but Jackson was later discover at a hospital seeking treatment for the gunshot.
